Exploring Beyond Edgefield
If you feel like exploring beyond Edgefield, you're in a great spot. Portland is about 20 minutes away, with easy access to neighborhoods like the Pearl District and the east side for good coffee, bookstores, and restaurants.
In the other direction, the Columbia River Gorge begins just down the road - a stretch of cliffs, river views, and waterfalls, including stops like Multnomah Falls and Latourell Falls, along with scenic drives and short hikes throughout.
Within 60-90 minutes, you can go further afield depending on what sounds appealing. Hood River offers a small-town feel with views of the river and Mount Hood, plus breweries and fruit stands in the surrounding valley. If you'd rather had west, the Oregon coast is reachable for a full day trip - wide beaches, sea stacks, and long walks.
It's an easy place to explore from, whether you want a quick outing or a more open-ended day.
